Current Research includes:

Evidence Based Research

We perform literature reviews of the latest evidence based peer reviewed articles in order to evaluate the following:

i. Functional medicine and alternative adjunct methodologies for neurological illnesses with the purpose of enhancing quality of life and function.

ii. Systems that employ self-managed care, emphasizing life style choices such as diet, exercise, socialization and protective measures to prevent disease.

Current Research Associates:

Peggi S. Cross, Ph.D  is an engineer with experience in the microelectronics industry involving electronic components used in measurement such as lasers, CCD image sensors, microprocessors and other semi-custom devices.  She has many years of industrial experience in design of experiments, measurement capability studies and statistical analysis of data.  Her special interests are in methodologies using electronic tools that measure chemical or physiological parameters associated with the brain and mental function related to schizophrenia, Parkinson’s and PTSD.  She has experience in adapting a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program for the Seriously Mentally Ill and 125+ hours experience providing training using that program and measuring the results.

Beverly Coleman, MPH, L.Ac.,  is a licensed acupuncturist, herbalist and nutritionist. She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology/anthropology at Cal State University in Los Angeles and a master’s of public health (MPH) in Behavioral Science/Health Education/ Gerontology at UCLA. Beverly then earned a second master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, California. Beverly has been an avid researcher and student of health-related matters for over 40 years and a health care practitioner for the past 35 years. She has performed research on a model community health program sponsored by the Verde Valley Medical Center and Sedona (see sedonaharmony.org) and a USDA grant funded project studying the use of organic fruits and vegetables and low salt/sugar diets in 16 childcare centers in Los Angeles.  She is the author of “The Safe Use of Herbs — How to Use Common Household Herbs to Help You Stay Well” and “The Coleman Wellness Self-Test.”
